The Nigeria National Committee for the United World Colleges (U.W.C) invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerian candidates for a limited number of Scholarship Awards to some U.W.Cs.

The Colleges prepare students for a two year International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate (an equivalent of A 'levels'). Parents/Guardians may be required to foot the bill of their wards flight ticket, pocket money, health, insurance, clothing, etc. cost where applicable. Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 17 years. However, those aged 18 and 19 years are eligible for the Simon Boulivar UWC in Venezuela, which is essentially an agricultural institution.
The United World College Movement is a non-profit making organization with International Headquarters in London. Currently, there are twelve Colleges located in various countries, namely United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, Swaziland, U.S.A, Italy, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Norway, India, Costa Rica and Bosnia Herzegovina. The Nigerian National Committee was formed in 1982, Currently, Mr. Hakeem Belo Osagie (an alumnus of UWC) is the Chairman of the Committee while Mr. Akintola Williams (CBE, OFR) is the National Patron.
To be eligible to apply, candidates must have demonstrated outstanding academic ability and must have obtained the Senior School Certificate SSCE or GCE O'levels or thier recognized equivalent. Exceptional students in SS3 may also apply with
their two years continuous assessment and mock results duly certified by their school heads.

Application form can be obtained on the payment of N5,000.00 (Five thousand Naira). Bank Draft drawn in any of the Nigerian banks and in favor of the "Nigerian National Committee for the United World Colleges"

Forms can be downloaded from our website on http://www.ng.uwc.org but must be submitted in any of the under listed centres with the prescribed fees within the application period.
The date for the sale starts January 7, 2008 and last date for submission of application forms is February 29, 2008.
SELECTION EXERCISE.
Short-listed Candidates will be invited for a rigorous Selection Exercise at the Sea School, Apapa, Lagos holding from Friday March 21 to Sunday March 23, 2008. Candidates are therefore advised to consult the list of short-listed candidates at any of the Centres listed- above from March 7 to 20, 2008. All applications received would be acknowledged. Letters of invitation to the Selection Exercise will also be delivered to short-listed candidates at the Centres already noted.
Candidates invited for interviews would pay N5,000.00 interview fee (to defray the cost of feeding, lodging etc). The Selection Exercise will consist of an oral interview and various tests, including - written, solo initiative and physical endurance tests, etc. The result will be communicated to successful candidates only. The National Committee will not enter into any correspondence with candidates not selected.
